CABGU Quebec is delighted to congratulate the 2017 ECCC team - Rotem Duani (leader), Dor Gal, Yossi Myerson and Roni Raviv - and extends warm wishes to Prof. Amir Shapiro, Director of the Robotics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. ECCC - Engineering and Commerce Case Competition

Over the past two years students from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev have competed at the Engineering Commerce Case Competition at Concordia University, achieving strong scores and invaluable experience. A new team will arrive in Montreal at the end of February to compete in this year's event, and once again, of the twelve schools represented, this team will be the only one representing Israel. For the seventh consecutive year, Canadian Associates of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev has sponsored a team of MBA students to compete at the John Molson MBA International Case Competition at Concordia University. For the second year, the team was made up of students from the Mandel Social Leadership MBA Program (SLMBA) at Ben-Gurion University's Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management. Read more.

Ellayne Kaplan, Executive Director of CABGU Quebec region, participated in a reception at Quebec's Assemblée Nationale on November 29, marking the 100th anniversary of Montreal's Federation CJA and acknowledging the forced exodus of 800,000 Sephardi Jews from Arab countries. Quebec's Premier Philippe Couillard and leaders of the two opposition parties provided a very warm welcome at this event, which was organized by CJA and CJPAC.

Fifth Annual Kindle Your Imagination Lecture Series Presents:  Dr. Ilan Dinstein - Cracking the Autism Puzzle

Dr. Ilan Dinstein, a member of Ben-Gurion University's Department of Psychology and the Zlotowski Center for Neuroscience, has established Israel's first major autism research center with the help of additional scientists at the university and physicians in the neighboring Soroka Medical Center. The goals of the research center are to reveal what causes different types of autism and to develop new interventions for the disorder through a better understanding of the genetics, metabolism, brain function, and behavior of 1-4 year old toddlers who develop autism. For the sixth consecutive year, CABGU Quebec has sponsored a team of MBA students from Ben-Gurion University to participate in the John Molson MBA International Case Competition at Concordia University. This year’s team, which consisted of 5 students from the Mandel Social Leadership Program at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management (GGFBM) at BGU, was ably coached by Dr. Yaron Lahav from the GGFBM and Meital Magid, a past competitor who has acted as Assistant Coach on several occasions. March 26 was a cool and rainy Montreal spring evening, but the Block Amphitheatre of the Jewish General Hospital was an oasis of warmth and light as CABGU welcomed Dr. Rania Okby to speak on “From Desert to Delivery Room” as part of CABGU's Kindle Your Imagination Lecture Series. Dr. Okby spoke passionately about her personal journey from tribal society to becoming Israel's first female Bedouin doctor.

A team of four exceptional students from BGU recently participated in the Engineering and Commerce Case Competition (ECCC) at Concordia University. The ECCC, the only competition of its kind in Canada, run exclusively by students, was hosted at Concordia from March 10-15, 2015 for the second year in a row with a large variety of corporate partners and a diverse variety of world universities. John Molson MBA International Case Competition Wrap-up

Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, saw Montreal weather at its worst - snow, freezing rain and sheer misery. Miraculously the coaches and all the team members from the Ben-Gurion University Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management arrived in time to prepare for the Competition and were able to attend the CABGU Cocktail. Twenty-five devoted Board members and supporters braved the storm along with Avi Bar Louis, Deputy Consul-General of Israel, to meet and mingle with the visitors.

Throughout the week of January the team participated in 5 case presentations, pitted against students from Canada, China, the U.S. and Sweden. The cases, all of which were based on real problems in real companies, challenged the participants to use all their knowledge and skills to deal with the complexity of modern business. Though BGU didn't win their cases, the team members certainly gained tremendously through their experience and by observing other teams in action as well. Read more.

CABGU Quebec welcomes MBA students from BGU's Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management

This event, recognized as the world's largest competition of its kind, welcomes participants from 36 schools, half of which are from outside North America. The competing teams will tackle 7 new business cases in a 6-day period, in the hopes of capturing the Concordia Cup and a cheque for $10,000!

For the 5th consecutive year, CABGU is extremely proud to support 5 BGU students and their coaches by funding the entire team participation in this major competition. It provides them a wonderful opportunity to develop many competencies that are crucial for business leaders and enjoy a unique and remarkable educational experience. Read more.
