Dr. Rania Okby speaks on how she became a role model for Bedouin women in Israel. A Bedouin person is defined as someone who is born and raised in the desert. Bedouin society lacks a strong educational system and places cultural restrictions on women. The remarkable story of a remarkable woman, Dr. Okby shares her unique journey to becoming a renowned physician specializing in multiple births and high risk pregnancies. In Israel, Dr. Okby serves on staff at Soroka Medical Centre. Currently, she is in Toronto doing a one-year Fellowship at Sunnybrook in OBGYN. A mother of two, born and raised in and near Be'er Sheva, she has forged a path merging traditional Bedouin culture and modern Israeli life. Read more.
