On the evening of September 4th
, over 70 people attended a joint event between The Canadian Associates of Ben-Gurion University and the Lodzer Synagogue to hear Professor Eilon Adar, head of the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. In the sanctuary of the Lodzer Synagogue in Toronto, Professor Adar explained how Israel has resolved the shortage of drinking and agricultural water within the country, and how it has become a world leader in research and development concerning water related issues. The crowd took great pride in the role Israel now plays in consulting and providing technology to countries all over the world including Canada. The issues of desalination of both sea and brackish water, treatment of sewage water for agricultural use, and technological developments for water usage in agriculture were all explained and featured in the context of the Israeli National Water System. Following the lecture, a dessert reception was held where attendees were able to speak with Professor Adar covering the various points arising from his presentation.
