April 2022 News from Ben Gurion University Canada

Dear Friends,

Mother Nature is playing a cruel April Fools joke on some of us today in parts of the country, with cold and snowy conditions, but there are still lots of exciting things coming our way over the next few weeks at Ben-Gurion University Canada (BGU Canada)! For one, Passover is just around the corner. I want to wish each and every one of you a Chag Pesach Same'ach. I would also like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has participated in the Ben-Gurion University Canada Passover Campaign in support of the Lillian and Larry Goodman Open Apartments Program at BGU. If you haven't yet had a chance to get your Passover Seder table place cards, we still have a limited number of packs available and Monday is the deadline.

I would also like to welcome back home our Canadian "Halutz Initiative for Global Leadership" program participants. Three participants from coast to coast in Canada participated in this incredible leadership initiative of BGU itself, which included 17 participants from 12 countries.

Finally, in-person, regional events are planned at each of our regions in the upcoming months. To learn more please scroll down or head to our website, www.bengurion.ca.

Once again, wishing you a Happy Passover and a wonderful April!
Mark Mendelson
CEO, BGU Canada

We can't wait to see you in-person once again! Check out our upcoming local events beginning with a June 9th gala in Vancouver, June 14th events in Montreal and Winnipeg, and a November 6th gala in Toronto. Learn more:

BGU's Halutz Global Leadership Initiative

Thirteen members of BGU's Halutz (“Pioneer”) Initiative for Global Leadership from 12 countries attended a week-long seminar in Israel. They learned how to turn their passions into practical solutions for challenges the world, modern-day Israel, and the Negev face, dedicated through David Ben-Gurion’s ambitious vision in which BGU plays a key role.

As part of the program, Halutz members got to familiarize themselves with Israeli culture. Tours in Jerusalem, wine tastings, discussion at “the Writers’ House in Honor of Amos Oz at Beer Sheva’s old city,” and socializing during a night of live music and fun are just part of their activities.

Leading The “Halutz Initiative for Global Leadership” are Ms. Toni Young, Chair of The Global Development Committee, Mr. Jeff Kaye, BGU’s Vice President for Public Affairs and Resource Development. Ms. Jill Ben-Dor, Director of Department of Resource Development, and Ms. Hadas Moshe-Barat, Head of the Donors & VIP Visitors Unit.
