An evening with BGU’s Professor Oren Tsur – Director for the Center for the Study of Geopolitics
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, BGU Canada Ottawa gathered friends and supporters for a special evening hosted by Susannah Dalfen and Jonathan Malino, featuring guest speaker Professor Oren Tsur; senior lecturer in the Department of Software and Information Systems Engineering, head of the Natural Language Processing (NLP) Social Dynamics Lab and co-founder of the Centre for the Study of Digital Politics.
The event welcomed 40 attendees, including Ottawa Chapter President Eva Stelzer and BGU Canada CEO Andrea Freedman.
Professor Tsur delivered a compelling presentation on his research into bias in mainstream media, focusing on a comprehensive study of the BBC since the attacks of October 7 and the war in Gaza. His insights sparked thoughtful conversation among guests and underscored the critical role of academic research in addressing today’s most pressing societal challenges.
