June News from BGU

MESSAGE FROM ANDREA FREEDMAN
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER - BGU CANADA

VIDEO CORNER

BGU's 54th Board of Governors Meeting was held from May 19th to the 23rd in Israel. A dedicated and committed group of Canadian lay leaders, volunteers, donors and staff members attended the five day event. This year's BOG was notably different from past gatherings.Attendees witnessed the remarkable resilience and determination displayed by BGU students, staff and faculty in the aftermath of the attacks on the Gaza envelope. The visit included a solemn journey to the site of the Nova Festival memorial, leaving a lasting impression of its profound significance. Breakout sessions delved into the ongoing initiatives aimed at revitalizing the Negev, gaining insights into BGU's pivotal role and how we, as Canadians, can contribute to this important endeavour.

THANK YOU, FEDERATION CJA, FOR YOUR GENEROUS GIFT
TO BEN-GURION UNIVERSITY OF THE NEGEV

Federation CJA has gifted Ben-Gurion University $120,500 for a new initiative that will enhance coexistence through simulation-based learning. This new project will pioneer an approach to addressing the challenges faced by rising tensions between Jews and Arabs in hospitals and schools by leveraging a state-of-the-art simulation centre at BGU and the experience gathered by the university's School of Public Health. This project aims to facilitate constructive dialogue, promote learning, and contribute to academic research.

The Way Forward Gala will raise much needed funds for several critical programs at BGU that offer students, staff and faculty, and the greater Negev community, the mental health support desperately needed for them to heal.

WEBINAR WEDNESDAY

Our friends at Americans for Ben-Gurion University are extending an invitation to BGU Canada supporters to join a Webinar Wednesdays virtual event this week.

BEN-GURION UNIVERSITY OF THE NEGEV MOURNS

The entire BGU community is stricken by grief and mourning at the loss of our students, staff and faculty who were murdered and killed in the line of duty during the Iron Swords war.

It started with David Ben-Gurion's vision,
and continues today as our mission.
